GPS Systems for Cars
There are a couple of setups for navigation systems for cars but the most cost effective one is just to purchase
the portable unit that you can bring along and use when you are on a different vehicle.
If you don't want to mess with wires or hookups on your windshield, you can opt for the in-dash replacements
that are built in with stereo/DVD units. This setup basically is more expensive and you either need to have it
installed or you can install yourself but will take a little bit of knowledge and know how. The result can be
rewarding though and basically, you also upgraded your stereo plus a DVD player in your car.
What would be the best setup?
The answer to this question is basically depending on you. Both setups have advantages and disadvantages. If you
use GPS most of the time, then an in-dash replacement might be the best option and if you only use it once in a
while when you get out of town, then the portable one will be the winner.
You also have to consider the options on both setups. During my testing, the portable one has the same features
and then some as compared to the in-dash units. The only disadvantage in my own opinion for the portable gps units
for cars are there screens. Most of them are around 3.5" and when you need a bigger screen, then you are
comprimising the portability of the unit and it will actually cause it to be more bulkier and more clutter in your
car.
